Give Mum an Experience to Remember this Mother's Day
You didn't know? ... you wish it was like Christmas with at least three months of ubiquitous build up, but instead it has a tendency to creep up on you, just as you are getting over your Easter chocolate consumption!
We all love our mums – so here's our guide on what to get her this Mother's Day because we all know after a certain age, home-made macaroni picture frames spray painted gold just don’t cut it, and you don’t want to give YOUR mum any old boring, generic or mundane gift.
This year it’s time to bring out the big guns - and even if you’ve left it a bit late you can treat yourself to a hassle-free shopping experience by picking up tickets online to some great entertainment for Mum. By gifting the experience of live performance you'll offer her a precious time to share and remember - especially if you've bought a second ticket so she can take you along.
We’ve pulled together some ideas for you but there's also the option to choose your (and Mum's) own adventure by selecting your own subscription package combination, buying individual show tickets or purchasing a gift voucher.
A ticket to a heart-warming, funny, uplifting or thought-provoking show offers Mum something enjoyable to look forward to.
There's plenty to choose from. If your Mum loves a laugh we've got The Wharf Revue and Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow on offer.
There is great theatre as Bell Shakespeare takes you on a journey of love, mercy and justice in the Merchant of Venice or if your mum is into local newly produced works then The Q’s Daisy Moon Was Born This Way will have her nodding her head along with the story of sibling relationships. Of course where would theatre be without love, romance, thrills, adultery, passion and pure enjoyment in Blue Love and the gothic classic Therese Raquin!
If music's more her thing, you could package tickets to The Joan’s laid back Sunday Series where world music meets cool jazz. Katie Noonan and Karin Schaupp kick off the season with angelic vocals and fiery guitar in Songs of the Latin Skies.
For mums who like their music big, bold and classical there is The Summit – Richard Bonynge Series – the pinnacle of fine music. Imagine giving mum a ticket to be one of only 150 guests who sit on stage in the Concert Hall surrounding the piano as the winner of the Sydney International Piano Competition, Andrey Gugnin performs. A unique gift!
The year is still young! It's not too late to pick up a great four or six show subscription to The Joan for Mum this Mother’s Day – give her the gift of time for herself and the enjoyment and mindfulness that come with a night out and a live performance!
For the art lover, take mum to Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest at Emu Plains and enjoy the free Autumn exhibition – Visions of Utopia, Hill End: Seven Decades and Rochelle Summerfield: A Wayfarer on the Nepean and a lovely morning tea or lunch at the onsite Café at Lewers.
Bookings and reservations can be made for Mother’s Day for 8am, 10am , 12noon and 2pm by calling 4735 4265.
We wish mothers everywhere a happy Mother's Day for Sunday 14 May, and we look forward to welcoming you to The Joan and Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest to celebrate.
