Back in 2002, the founder of the Guru brand, Stephen Ashworth and his good friend Richard Peil believed they had identified a weakness in the rapidly expanding coffee shop market.

Although impressed by the branding and advertising of most operators, they were astounded by the lack of emphasis placed on the quality and consistency of the coffee.
