New Upgrades Announced for Penrith Public Schools
Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres visited the schools to explain to thrilled students and teachers that they will be having their school grounds transformed as part of the NSW Liberals & Nationals ongoing investment in Western Sydney.
First stop on his schoolyard sweep, Mr Ayres informed students at Kingswood South Public School that they would be receiving a new covered outdoor learning area and a basketball court.
“This is a great win for the school as we’re improving facilities to be used for lessons, organised sport and for students to have fun and be active,” Mr Ayres said.
Mr Ayres also visited York Public School to announce that the school will benefit from new playground equipment and shade sails.
“Education doesn’t stop in the classroom. This is why it is so important to provide our students with the best playground equipment to promote active lifestyles.”
In addition, Kingswood Park Public School will have their essential school ground facilities updated with a new covered outdoor learning area, a ramp for disabled access, new bubblers and new turfing for the benefit of students.
“These are the things that we are delivering for our schools to improve the facilities our children are using every day at school,” Mr Ayres said.
These upgrades are being delivered in addition to the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s record $6 billion school building program to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools, which includes a new Environmental Education Centre at Penrith Lakes and a new primary school at Jordan Springs, in addition to a major upgrade to Penrith Public School and Kingswood High School.
Other recently announced commitments include major infrastructure upgrades to Lapstone Public School and Cranebrook High School, Jamison High School and Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School.
Mr Ayres said the Liberal & National Government’s record investment in schools was in stark contrast to Labor’s. The last time Labor was in power, they shut down 90 schools, resulting in a loss of more than 500 classrooms and 2000 student places.”
In addition to the record-breaking school building program, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has committed an unprecedented investment to eliminate the school maintenance backlog so that every public school in the State provides the world-class facilities that our students and teachers deserve.
